SOLE ANGELS

Sole Angels a sculpture made of plaster and sugar, using Nike AF1 sneaker soles, honoring our soles journey and the culture i grew up in , in the Bronx. AF1 are like an unspoken language on Fordham Rd, everyone has them and the fresher they are the better. I wanted to play on the word “sole” as our souls, and making a sculpture that emulated biblical descriptions of angels. This piece is where Street Culture and Religion intersect. I sold this piece to Jon Gray of Ghetto Gastro in 2020. I exhibited this piece in Harlem (Hunter East Harlem Gallery), Manhattan (Joan Mitchell Foundation), and in The Bronx ( the Longwood Gallery) from 2019-2020.
